I think you're mistaking the principles of autos and revolvers.
Merely hanging a longer barrel on an accurized revolver
will generally have the effect you mention, but a longer
heavier gun in an auto has to be accurate enough for pins
to start with, and IMO, none of the Desert Eagles or
Grizzleys I've shot will do it.
The Coonan full sized pistol is not any more unreasonable in
the muzzle flip department than a S&W 627, and lots of
pin matches are won with them 627's.
The fact unfortunately is that the .45 is king of the pin
world. Others like the 10mm and .357 are very good too,
but the .45 is easiest to get properly configured
into a pin gun with compensator and weight to keep
recoil down to minimum levels for quick follow up
shots.
I have a 627, a 610, a Delta Elite, 2 Coonans and a Gold
cup .45. I do well with all of them, but do BEST with
the .45.
