Sure, you'd have to be dead to NOT hear of them.

Are you SURE they "SELL" one in 10mm?

Endorsement, yes... comments... DEFINITELY!!!

I've handled a LOT of 1911 patterned pistols, and MANY
attempt to be perfect, balancing "Wants" vs. "Needs"
of the shooters and the vanity of the designers.

The SVI guns come as close to THE IDEAL 1911 as anyone
is going to get... ever, methinks.

I can't say I have shot dozens of them, truthfully
I have only shot two (a 40 and .45). CLOSE examination
of their attributes reveals a VERY strong willingness on
their part to be the Best Of Breed, and IMO, this makes
it. Their array of features is nothing short of
STAGGERING, and readers should visit there if they want
an education in the art of details.

I'm not crazy about some things they do like those
"Hybrid comp" thingies, aluminum frames, or removable
breech faces, but the CUSTOMER says play the tune,
and they do... very well.

If I were to get just "One more" 1911 type pistol, and
my Delta GC were dead or GASP.... stolen, I'd like
to have one, yes indeed.

One question though... since their breech face is
removable, WHY can't you have a Commander length
slide in 10mm (or .40) ?????

Let me know what kind of shekels they pry from your
bank account for the 10mm.

So, I don't know if you'd call this an "endorsement"
but it comes as close as I can get without convincing
myself that I have to have one :-)

In closing...

You will note that the SVI guns are NOT in "The Guns"
page. The reason for NOT having them on my pages is I
don't list custom gun makers on the 10 pages, only
something in 10mm that is catalogued, somewhere,
anywhere, with a price.

You can also note that on page 20 of their site, they
do not list a 10mm BARREL. They "could" ream out
a .40 or whip one up, but then it's a "Custom"
gun... no?

Their only inference to a 10mm is on Page 11 in the
Magazine section, and Page 3 the slide page.
Neither guarantee that they actually MAKE a 10mm
because the slide, and mags work in the 9x25 etc.

If they had a page that actually said they make
a complete 10 (not a custom gun) off the shelf
and could deliver 100 pieces right NOW, I'd have them
listed there in a shot.

So far SVI no can do, or I've been dense and haven't
found the details on it.

Ed Note, more talk from above

Gee, that's not too bad. For a gun that should need nothing
(hopefully) it's not bad at all, one question though, how many
dancing maidens does it arrive at the door with :-)

I wonder if the price has anything to do with the fact that
I have only have shot two?

Seriously, I'm pretty hot into shotgunning now, and shotgunners
are paying from $1500 UP for a decent shotgun. Recently I
was ogling a particularly beautiful Kreighoff, and the owner
told me to "go ahead and shoot it". One look at the gun and it
was OBVIOUS that its value was equal to the average 2000 model
year family sedan so I figured I'd get out of shooting it
by saying "Thanks, but I only have reloads"

You see guys with mega bucks don't reload unless they're so
bored that the only thing better than reloading for excitement
might be a bank robbery. These types SHRINK at the mere
suggestion that you use a reload in their precious guns,
but to my surprise he said, "Go ahead, use your ammo, and
I'll use YOUR gun for a few" Well, his gun did shoot VERY
nice, but no better than my mere $1900 LIST Browning, and
he shot MINE as well as he shot his :-)

After shooting I "suggested" that his gun would be worth
nearly $20,000 (that's twenty THOUSAND dollars for those
of you who are zero impaired) he said he'd buy a Boxcar load
of them at that price... seems as if it were valued in excess
of $35,000 (yup, you read it correctly)

We remarked at how similar they shot and felt, but he liked the
weight of mine better... I offered to trade... EVEN for his,
and the crowd roared :-) Alas, the sport of Kings is NOT horse
racing, or even Golf, I think it's shotgun sports... you can even
rub elbows with these chaps out there.

I went home and told my wife that I could now die, and meet
my maker knowing that I have shot a gun that was worth more than
my first house, and the first FIVE of my automobiles :-)

Anyway, sorry for the irrelevant drivel, I wanted to put the 10mm
into perspective, I'll let you continue with your reply
from them.
