Ed Note:

The * indicates that these departments allow officer discretion to keep previously issued firearms, or use weapons of personal choice. If weapon models are listed they may be on an approved weapons list, or are in general use without an endorsement of a particular model by that agency.

If the * is not present, generally that model is the only one approved for use.

The agencies listed here were included because officers themselves wrote me, so obviously some of them could be dated, or in fact incorrect. If either is the case please write me, and I'll remove any department incorrectly represented.

If you know of any Police agency using a 10mm as a primary, or backup sidearm, send me Email, and I'll include the department, the sidearm, and the purpose they use it for here.

Several officers from agencies that DO NOT use 10mm's wrote me, and wished their Chiefs would allow more potent defensive/offensive firearms, others wrote surprised that there were as many agencies listed here as there are. Those here are fortunate to be given lattitude enough to use a sidearm sufficient to their intended uses if needed.
